Marcus: Chapter 30

Teagan

As soon as I get back to Marcus’s house, I start gathering all of my things while the stupid tears run down my face.

When I realize it won’t fit on my bike, I want to scream. I’m tempted to just leave it all behind.

Instead, I sit down on Marcus’s bedroom floor and make a phone call.

After only two rings, my mom answers. “Hello? Teagan?”

“It’s me. You-you were right about him,” I tell her as I try and hold back the sobs.

“Aw, honey. I’m sorry,” she says. “At least you didn’t waste much time with him before he moved on to someone else.”

“He didn’t. He didn’t move on to anyone.”

There’s a long pause as I sniffle, before she asks, “Are you sure about that?”

“Yes!”

“Then, why did you say that I was right?” she asks.

“Because he’s-he’s an asshole! He broke my heart, Mom. He lied to me,” I admit to her as tears fall faster down my cheeks. I knew he was keeping something from me, and still I stayed. “He’s been lying to me from the very beginning.”

“Lying is no less of a betrayal than cheating,” she says. “He’s no good for you, Teagan. Are you ready to come home?”

“I would, but my bike, my things…”

“I’ll come help you with your things. I can be there in a few hours,” she offers. I can’t wait hours to get out of this place, away from everything that reminds me of him.

“I can’t wait that long,” I tell her. “I’ll-I’ll see if I can get a moving trailer. That way, I can put my bike in it with the rest of my things, then drive it all back to Charlotte.”

“If you’re sure,” she says with a sigh.

“I’m sure I need to get out of this town, out of his house right now,” I reply. “And I never want to come back. So, if I can’t find a rental trailer, I’ll just leave it all behind.”

Marcus

I down so many shots during the weekly King’s meeting that the guys took my bike keys. So, by the time Leo gave them back, it’s well after midnight. When I get back to my place, Teagan’s bike is gone.

She’s really gone this time.

I know that even before I step foot inside the dark, silent house.

All of her things, her clothes that were hanging in the closet, her boots tossed next to the bed, her lacy panties that were strewn about all over the floor, are absent, as if they were never really there in the first place.

And they were only here for a few weeks.

Weeks that felt like a lifetime – one where I was really happy for the first time in my life.

I never knew how much being alone sucks until now.

All the years that I was just fine living on my own are unimaginable now.

I remember what Roman said earlier, that I know how to fix this, how to get Teagan back. I just don’t think I can do it.

But I never told her how much I cared about her. If she knew, maybe she would come back and give up on prospecting.

Probably not.

Still, I have to try.

Too bad I don’t have a fucking clue about where she lives, or if she even went home.

It’s a place to start, though, which is why I decide that in the morning, I’m going to take a ride to Charlotte and talk to the other members of the Savage Kings chapter.

They have to know where her mom lives. After all, Roy Allen may not have been her husband, but he was her child’s father.

Whenever a King goes down, we always take care of the loved ones they left behind.
