Maid for The Alphas: Chapter 3

BREANNA

I needed to leave immediately, but that would cause his suspicion to rise. So, I stayed put until I decided when it would be the best time to escape.

“I hope you took some nice pictures, Miss Breanna?” he said, glancing at the cars.

“Sorry,” I said hastily. “I didn’t mean to. I got a little bored…”

“I apologize for keeping you waiting,” he said, sticking his hand out. “I’m the one you spoke to earlier on the phone. Name’s Zaff.”

Yes, I couldn’t forget that deep, gorgeous voice.

I had replayed his voice in my mind throughout the entire bus ride here as I read my book. I just couldn’t seem to get it out of my head.

And to see him in person was another thing entirely.

My lady parts had literally awakened after years of busily chasing jobs. The pleasant throbbing between my legs increased as I took his hand, and he shook it firmly.

“I’m sorry, but I should be going,” I said. “You must have mistaken me for someone else.

His eyes flashed briefly, but he put on a polite smile, showing me his phone with my ad on it. “This seems to be you. Brown hair, tan skin, freckles, and cute nose. Definitely looks like the same person.”

“Yes, it’s just that everything seems too intimidating and huge,” I said, breathing hard and trying not to stare at the package between his legs. He couldn’t be that well-endowed. Maybe it was fake.

But I’ve heard of alphas’ knots back in school. The thought of his knot scared the shit out of me, and my face started to heat up.

“What’s huge?” he asked gruffly, staring at my line of vision, and I was mortified that my eyes were trained on his manhood. Breathing hard, I looked back up, and he met my gaze. “Come inside. It’s time for the interview, and then you can decide whether you’d like to work for me or not.”

“Okay,” I squeaked, not sure how the hell I could escape now as I stepped into the beautifully furnished home of the alpha. The air conditioner cooled me down instantly as I followed him through the gold living room. The living room had gold couches with a beige rug in the center. Gold-colored curtains dropped from the high ceilings, and I had to stop myself from gaping at everything in this beautiful home.

“My team is waiting at the office,” he said, only steps ahead of me as I tried to keep up with his long legs. I couldn’t help but allow my gaze to drift to his backside, which looked sexy in those pants.

I needed to pretend I was human as much as possible.

If they found out I was a beta escaped from the Alpha Compound, I was utterly doomed. And then it would lead them to discover Aunt Julie. That would be disastrous if they found out an omega had left the compound. She would get punished for taking me away from an alpha father and running away on top of that. They were way stricter on omegas than betas since omegas were the only ones who could produce alpha babies for them.

My plan was to turn down the job offer and never come back after this.

As I walked into his office, I was shocked to see three more alphas sitting behind the long desk with laptops in front of them. What the hell was an entire pack doing away from the Alpha Compound? I guess alphas were free to travel around and do what they wanted. But it was odd to see them living here amongst the human world.

“Guys, meet Breanna,” said Zaff, proudly introducing me. I wondered why he was so excited. I was nothing special at all; I was just a simple beta trying to get by in life while living with her aging aunt.

“I’m Chad,” said the alpha at the edge of the table, standing up as he shook my hand enthusiastically. He had chestnut-brown hair, gray eyes, and a calm demeanor. “Nice to meet you, Breanna.”

“Nice to meet you too,” I said, smiling politely, despite wanting to sink into the floor and disappear. He smelled so fucking good, like cheesecake. It reminded me of my trauma of never having a scent and being labeled beta forever. I always longed for my scent to emerge. But it just wasn’t meant to be.

The next alpha to shake my hand was tall and broad-shouldered, with a large black beard streaked in gray.

“I’m Oscar,” he said gruffly, staring at me for another minute before sitting back down.

Then I shook the last alpha’s hand, who had ice-blue eyes behind a pair of sharp square glasses and closely cropped blond hair.

“Ruston,” he introduced himself, and I smiled politely. He wore cologne over his natural woodsy scent, and I wished I could just get closer to him and smell the forest on him.

Zaff pulled the chair out so I could sit across from them, and I thanked him as I sat down. I needed to be as polite as possible and then turn down the job offer. My heart pounded hard as Zaff sat on the edge of the table, inches away from me. If I reached out, I would have been able to touch his knee, but his scent of dark chocolate and cake was enough to send my brain into a spiral.

“How are you feeling today?” asked Oscar in his gravelly voice.

“Pretty good, a little nervous,” I said.

“Why are you nervous?” asked Chad in concern as he passed an unopened water bottle over to me. “We strive to make sure our employees are comfortable when they step foot here.”

I shakily unscrewed the cap of the water bottle, and droplets of water spilled across my lap.

Damn it.

“I’ve never been interviewed by four hot guys like this,” I said bashfully, wishing I never said that. Instantly, I was embarrassed by the chuckle of the alphas all around me. Fuck my life. It was as if they’d heard that compliment several times.

“How old are you, Breanna?” asked Zaff curiously. I focused on the many rings on his knuckles as he gripped the desk.

“Twenty,” I said.

“You’re pretty mature starting your own business for such a young woman like yourself,” said Ruston, pushing back his glasses. “I work in tech and built an app which sold in the billions. I wish I’d gotten started sooner.”

“Billions?” I asked, my mouth dropping open. Of course, he was a billionaire, judging from the house and their cars. No ordinary person could afford all this.

“How long have you worked in your field?” asked Chad.

“Five years,” I answered, distracted by Zaff crossing one leg over the other. If I looked towards him, his package would be right in my face. His dark smell was so alluring and enticing. I wanted to unzip his pants and take that huge cock…

“That’s impressive,” said Oscar, breaking me out of my not-so-clean daydream of their pack leader. “I think we should be good then.”

“Okay, but…” I started to say, ready to turn down any job offers coming my way.

But Zaff quickly interrupted me.

“We will give you a tour of the house,” said Zaff, taking my hand and leading me out of the chair before I could say anything else.

Oh no.

It wasn’t going to be as easy escaping as I thought it would be. I’d have to humor them just a little bit longer than I would be free. If Aunt Julie knew about this, she’d kill me for not running on sight as soon as I discovered a pack of alphas was living on this side of Texas.

Ruston, Chad, and Oscar pointed out various rooms to me as I walked beside Zaff. Chad was on my other side while Ruston and Oscar followed behind us.

“Are you prepared to clean up Ruston’s room?” asked Chad as we walked up the silver staircase. Their dress shoes clicked against the wooden flooring of the home while my clunky sneakers sounded like a dead fish flopping on the ground.

Definitely not sexy.

“I have to see it first,” I said as noncommittal as possible.

The house was ginormous to me.

I couldn’t believe my eyes as we passed by twenty rooms on each floor and many bathrooms.

We hadn’t even gotten to the second wing of the house yet, and I was already out of breath. They had hired workers in the garden, who I could see through the giant windows and a doorman who had just shown up.

The alphas surrounding me during the tour overwhelmed me with all the scents, throwing me off my professional mode. I had never blushed more in my life when they looked into my eyes while talking, especially with Zaff, who gave off the aura that he was the pack leader and head alpha.

“Your room isn’t that bad at all,” I said, laughing when I saw a few articles of Ruston’s clothes strewn on the floor and a messy bed. I could get that cleaned for him in less than ten minutes, excluding the vacuuming of the crumbs.

If they thought his room was dirty, then that would make the other rooms immaculate.

“Glad you think so,” huffed Ruston, who punched Chad on the arm.

“I needed to warn her,” said Chad, and I smiled. “Don’t get all embarrassed now, Rusty.”

After the tour was over, I sat in the office nervously, wondering how the hell I would get out of this. Chad was printing out batches of documents, and I could feel Zaff’s gaze on me as he watched me. This time, he was sitting across from me at the table instead of hovering right next to me. But for some reason, it was more uncomfortable, and his gaze made the butterflies in my belly more intense.

“So, what do you think?” asked Zaff. “Do you see yourself working here? So far, I find that you’re a good fit to work with us.”

My pulse raced.

“It looks like it would be a wonderful place to work in,” I said as delicately as possible. “But I don’t believe I’m the right fit for the job.”

“Is it the pay?” he asked quickly, sitting up in his chair. “Instead of fifty dollars an hour, how about we make it eighty dollars an hour?”

My eyes widened. Even the starting pay was a lot. It was more money than I’d ever made in my entire life, combined with my aunt’s salary. I would finally be able to buy a car and maybe my dream house.

My life would be changed forever.
