Betrayed (Wild Mountain Scots, #4): Chapter 26

Unknown

Boots drummed, men snapped to order. We had to mobilise, now. There was no more time to waste. No hesitation due. Adrenaline screamed through my system, and I remained clear-headed despite the provocation.

My worst fear had been realised.

I knew exactly how to resolve it.

Aurelia’s actions had enabled this play to advance. Finally, her situation had come to a head, and relief greater than I’d known stole over my consciousness.

Box ticked. Option selected.

Weeks of being uncertain had caused me physical pain. Getting the green light to enact a solution was a rush of blood to the head.

At last, I could fix this.

And with ease, too.

The problem was Lia.

The solution, therefore, was in taking her out of the equation.

Thus, with the plan underway, I followed the men from the vehicles to the aircraft. And I smiled for the first time in ten years.
