Blood and Ruin: Chapter 8

Jax smirks, throwing an arm around me and pulling me close. Bringing his lips to my ear, his warm breath sends shivers down my back.

“Wearing that should be a sin.”

Pulling back, he studies every curve of my body, as if trying to memorize every little detail. His gaze finally reaches my face moving to my lips, pausing for a moment before setting on my eyes. My fingers itch to reach out and pull him closer.

“What are you doing here?”

“We have some… business to attend to.” Jax swipes a beer from a passing waitress.

“We?”

Jax tilts his head to our left. I glance over in the direction and find Kai, Rion and Axel in one of the VIP sections, all surrounded by powerful supes fawning over them like mindless minions.

“Where’s Luka?” I look around but can’t find him anywhere near the booths.

“He’s around,” he says too vague for me to make any sense of it.

“I didn’t think innocent little Kiarra would wear anything like this or the dress the other night, but I can’t say I’m complaining. I fucking love it.”

If I had the choice, I’d never wear anything like it either, but he didn’t need to know that.

“Well, in that case, maybe you should wear it?”

Jax’s smile is wicked, a devious glint in his eyes, one that sends a shiver through me.

“Oh baby, I’m up for whatever role-playing game you want. But let’s go somewhere a little more private.”

He grabs my hand, turning, ready to leave.

My eyes widen slightly as I pull back. “That’s not… I wasn’t… I mean…” Jax’s deep chuckle ends my flustered blunder.

I narrow my eyes, watching as the twinkle in his eyes grows. Hiding my smile, I try to look pissed off.

I pick up my drink needing to wet my dry lips. “Besides, I’m not so innocent or little anymore.”

Jax’s eyes flash before covering it with a smirk.

“Don’t I know it,” he murmurs, a dark look in his eyes.

Saluting me with his beer, he takes a large gulp before slamming it on the table.

“Right. Let’s go have some fun.”

“What?” The drink pauses just before my lips.

“Dance?” He smiles tilting his head towards the dance floor.

“I’ll pass.”

Turning around, I lean against the small table, looking out onto the dance floor while subtly searching for that contact.

Moving in front of me, Jax drops the smirk, turning it to a pout. I laugh at the idiot’s silly puffed out lips.

“Come on, for your favourite mate?”

“I don’t have a favourite and I’m still not convinced we’re mates.” But there was no doubt about it. Their searing kisses were more than just that. Something deep inside me settled. Something I didn’t know was missing to begin with.

A slight touch from them made my body turn fevered with need. I needed more. More of their hands, more of their mouths as they explored every inch of me.

The thought alone was making me hot and flustered.

Jax smirks, raising a brow. “Don’t try to deny it. I can smell your desire from here.”

Jax’s woodsy scent envelops me as he moves closer. He dips his head, trailing his nose along my neck, making me shudder.

“It’s fucking delicious.”

Jax pulls his head back to look me in the eyes, the warmth from his body and musky smell wrapping around me, along with his arms.

“I think I need a taste.”

My mind blanks trying to think of a reason not to let him.

“Jax…” I start.

“Just… one… little taste.”

I’m frozen in place as Jax leans back in, his gaze shifting from my eyes to my lips. The soft look in his eyes fills with pure hunger.

Just as his lips are about to touch mine, a pissed off voice reaches us, breaking us apart.

“Hey! I saw ‘er firsst, wait yeor fuckin’ turn.” The pervert slurs his words making his way back over to me.

Shit.

Jax’s attention whips to the stumbling drunk man. “Oh, was I interrupting something?” His voice is anything but sweet as his hard gaze narrows on me. I mirror his pissed off expression earning a small smirk.

“Actually yesss, so… if you wouldn mind…” The creeper tries waving Jax away.

“Youu can ave a turn, once I’m finished.”

The once sweet and seductive man was gone, replaced by something full of darkness and rage. With a cruel tilt to his lips and a crazy look in his eyes, he gives the creep his full attention.

“That so?” Jax’s grip tightens on me, his eyes filling with murderous intent.

There must be something wrong with me. Seeing Jax like this, turned me the hell on. I bite my lip, craving his touch, his strong hands as they work down my body.

Clenching my thighs, I try to ignore the achy throbbing desire rushing to my core and focus on the drunken idiot.

“Y-yes.” The creeps voice sounds more like a question than an answer as he stumbles back a step. Grabbing hold of the back of a chair, he clears his throat trying to stand taller.

“I mean, yesss. You can ave ‘er when we’r finished.”

“Have her? She’s fucking mine .” Jax lets his wolf come to the surface, his eyes glowing. He sneers at the guy, a warning growl slipping out.

Instead of shitting himself, the creep relaxes seeing Jax’s wolf, and forces out a nervous chuckle. “Oh, you’re one of those.”

His fake confidence confuses me. Jax could literally break him in two and here he was talking to him like he was beneath him.

Was he under the impression that no one would touch him because of King?

“One of what?” Jax demands.

“You know, a supe.”

The idiot must not know much about supes, especially wolves. They’re not fucking puppies. He relaxes further, looking somewhat smug in his drunken state.

Jax releases my hand, blocking me from the creep’s view. His body seems to grow larger as a dangerous glint enters his eyes, promising violence.

Noticing the change in Jax, the creep raises his hands. Taking a small step back, he coos as if trying to calm a frightened animal.

“Hey, heyy now! We… we can sharre?” He goes to reach for me, when Jax charges forward and in a flash has the creep up against the wall, his hand firmly wrapped around his throat.

“You think you can touch what’s mine! Don’t even look at her, do I make myself clear?”

Jax is full beast mode, his wolf rolling under his skin, begging to be set free.

People glance over to check out the commotion but one look from Jax and they swiftly turn around, minding their own business.

Damn it! This was not the time for a shit show. My contact could be here and bolt if I don’t get this under control.

The creep gasps a reply, but Jax is holding him too tight to make out a word.

“I said, she’s fucking mine.” He growls, sounding more beast than man, his deep voice touching the dark part of me I keep hidden.

The idiot tries to speak again but Jax tightens his hold until the guy begins to turn a shade of purple.

Fuck, if he kills this creep and he ends up being somewhat important to King’s plans, it won’t be Jax who takes the blunt edge of King’s rage. It’ll be me or Alana.

I take a step closer to him, Jax growling when I end up being closer to the creep as well.

“Jax, maybe you should let him go.”

Jax stiffens up. “Why? Did you want to spend some alone time with this piece of shit?”

“Of course, I fucking don’t. I just don’t want you to make a mess and have to see this fucker’s entrails displayed across the floor.” Jax’s smile is anything but kind, but he loses some of the tension in his shoulders.

The creep’s eyes widen seeing the deranged look in Jax’s eyes. He frantically starts pulling at Jax’s hand trying to get him to release him, but it’s as if he’s made of steel, it doesn’t budge.

He starts to gasp for air, his face turning a deeper shade of purple, his lips nearly blue, sending a bolt of panic through me. The dying creep is starting to draw the wrong kind of attention.

King’s men have taken notice and are shifting closer. I needed to put a stop to this before my contact bolted.

“Jax—

“Put the simpleton down, Jax. We don’t need to get thrown out of here this early. At least let me have a drink first.” Luka shows up sending me a wink.

Distracting me with his dark trousers and a shirt, it takes me a minute to realise, I now have two hot assholes to deal with.

I take a large gulp of my drink, hoping this clusterfuck of a night ends soon. Luka was always the voice of reason growing up.

“No.” Jax growls.

I send Luka an exasperated look, asking him to help. Luka’s eyes soften before turning a determined gaze towards Jax.

“We have bigger issues than to draw attention to us right now. Or have you forgotten about everything?” Luka carefully chooses his words, while avoiding my eyes. Looks like I wasn’t the only one up to something.

Jax sends Luka a threatening look but his hand flexes, giving the creep a moment to gasp in some precious air.

“Put the simpleton down. We are not ruining everything so you can have some fun.”

Jax hesitates, squeezing harder before growling and finally dropping the dick. The guy coughs and spews, gasping for air, his buddies edging over to help the creep up.

Just as they reach him, Jax steps forward, a crazed look in his eyes. His beast is still close to the surface.

Luka grabs his shoulder, halting his advance. “They’re not worth it, brother.”

Jax looks over at me before turning to Luka. “That so? They wanted to take a turn with her. Our fucking mate . Said we’d have to wait until he was finished with her.”

Luka’s smirk drops immediately as he whips his head toward the now retreating frightened creeps. I roll my eyes as he takes a step toward them. Jax chuckles patting him on the back. “What was it you said not a minute ago? Oh yes, they’re not worth it. ”

Luka narrows his eyes on Jax before landing on me. “That was before…”

Jax’s eyes widen innocently. “Before?”

Luka shakes him off turning away. “Shut up,” he mumbles.

Jax’s chuckle gets louder, releasing some of the tension in my body.

“Let’s go get a drink, I need it.”

Luka nods, both starting for the bar but stop, turning to look at me.

Jax points a finger at me. “You. You’re coming with us. I’m not letting you out of my sight. Especially in that damn dress.”

Luka looks over as if just realising what I’m wearing. I feel his slow burning gaze as it roams over me, leaving a delicious trail of heat in its place. His eyes finally meet mine, both of us lost in the moment.

Jax’s quiet chuckle startles us back to reality.

Luka clears his throat finally breaking the spell.

“Let’s get that drink.”

I take a sip of my drink, trying to calm my raising heart and the heat in my body. Raising it to the two of them, I knock it back.

“I’m good. Too bad I have somewhere to be but enjoy your drinks.” I turn to get the hell away from them and their heady scents when Jax growls in warning, halting my retreat.

I whip my head around sending him a dark glare. “Don’t you dare growl at me, Jax Delaney. You don’t own me.”

It may have been six years since we last saw one another but nothing about the guys could frighten me. Nothing.

In fact, all he’s managing to do is turn me the hell on.

Jax’s eyes narrow in warning not seeing where my mind has turned. “Get that ass over here now, before I hunt you down.” A wicked glint enters his eyes as he takes a step closer.

“Or is that what you want?” With a cruel slant to his lips, he moves like a silent predator towards his prey.

“Do you want me to hunt you, Kiarra?” I squirm in place, watching Jax move toward me. His dark eyes flash, and his smirk grows knowing what he’s doing to me.

Stepping closer he places a hand to my throat, his thumb on my accelerated pulse.

“Stalk your every move, before I hold you down and do sinfully wicked things to every inch of that sexy body?”

The slow build intensifies, as a teasing throb shoots straight to my core making me bite my lip from the moan wanting to escape.

Leaning in he whispers into my ear, each raspy word sending tingles straight to my core making me wet.

“I’d make sure you’re wholly satiated before I got my fill. Though it may take us hours, maybe even days, before I’m satisfied.”

He bites my ear making me gasp as I close my eyes against the onslaught of pleasure running through me.

“Damn.” A tortured groan pulls me out of my trance making me realise where we are and what I’m supposed to be focusing on. The contact.

Pushing him back, I follow his hand as it falls to his side. Trying to shake off the fantasies running through my mind I look anywhere but at him.

I find Luka as he’s adjusting himself. The hungry desire in his eyes makes me want to go to him. To pull his mouth to mine and find some relief from the endless pleasurable build-up they evoked in me.

Jax chuckles beside me snapping me out of my inner torment.

“Go fuck yourself, Jax!” I try to sound pissed off, but I’m so turned on, it comes out soft and breathless.

His wicked chuckle grows. “Later, sweetheart, I’ll even let you join in or watch. For now, though, you owe me a drink.”

His crazy ass thought process throws me. “How do I owe you a drink?”

He rolls his eyes as if he’s talking to an idiot. “For saving you from that fucking pervert.”

I scoff, dismissing him.

“I had it handled. I can look after myself.”

“Sure, you can, sweetheart. Looked like you were doing a mighty fine job of it as well.”

I grit my teeth and bite my tongue. Getting into it with him now was not the time. I didn’t need another distraction causing me to miss my contact.

Shaking my head, I swipe a hand down my face. “What are you guys doing here?”

“Maybe we wanted to check in on our little mate?”

Narrowing my eyes, I spot the lie a mile away. Both still shit liars too. They never could keep much from me as kids.

Jax and Luka share a look.

“We did want to see you, it just happened to coincide with another little meet.” Jax shrugs like he just mentioned the weather. What other little meet? I’m about to ask when Jax smiles, looking anything but innocent.

“Besides, we have… unfinished business.”

Uh-huh. Not happening. Nope. “I thought we agreed to stay away from one another?”

I didn’t have time for this. I couldn’t risk scaring off my contact all because these idiots wanted to run after some crazy scheme they had planned.

“We agreed to no such thing,” a deep husky voice says from behind us, making me freeze.
