I’m not that kid’s dad. I know the doc is speaking, but all I can hear on repeat in my mind is that I’m not that kid’s dad. I already knew it wasn’t mine, but knowing and knowing are two very different things.
A shaky exhale falls from me and I grip Lulu’s hand just a little bit tighter. I love her so fucking much. I nod and thank the doctor, then pull Lulu to her feet and lead her to the door, eager to get the hell away from this office and Roxanne. The police are waiting for Roxy when we come out and they escort her to a waiting cop car, carefully loading her into it as Chloe looks on with watery eyes.
“Are you okay?” Lulu asks Chloe.
“They ran her name when they came to question her, she has an outstanding warrant for identity fraud so they’re taking her to the station to be arraigned.”
“Do you need me to help you find a lawyer?” Lulu asks. “I have a few friends that are practicing now, a couple of them specialize in criminal law.”
“Why would you want to help her after what she’s done to the both of you?” she asks incredulous.
“I don’t want to help her, I want to help you,” my woman says simply, pulling her hand free from my hold so she can tug Chloe into a tight hug.
Their hug lasts a long time and when they separate, both women have tears pouring down their faces and watery smiles.
“You should get home, I have to call Wade and tell him his daughter has been arrested.”
They hug again, then separate as Chloe heads to her car and I lead Lulu to mine. “I love you,” I tell her, turning her and backing her into the side of my car.
“I love you too.”
“I’m sorry you’ve had to deal with all this bullshit.”
“Me too, but at least it’s over now.”
“Now we can look forward to the future. Weddings to plan, babies to make.” I wink at her and she laughs, slapping lightly at my chest before she wraps her arms around me and hugs me tightly. “Let’s go home.”
“Home,” she agrees with a smile.
We celebrate that night with champagne, Chinese food and a healthy dose of family. By the time I follow Lulu through the door into our rooms, it’s well past midnight and I’m desperate to strip her naked and lose myself in her lush curves and warm pussy.
“I love you so damn much,” I confess, lifting her up and encouraging her to wrap her legs around my waist.
