Distance: Chapter 39

SIENNA

The natural light streams in the room as I lay snuggled on my sleeping husband’s side.

My husband.

A smile takes over my face as I watch his chest rise and fall steadily. Clearly exhausted after arguably the most life-altering day of his, no, our lives.

I’m married to the undisputed Heavyweight Champion of the World. I’m having a baby with him.

We finally get to right the wrongs of our pasts, to give a child the loving home we always dreamt of ourselves.

Placing a quick peck on his rock hard abs, I throw off the duvet and peel myself off him. As I kick one leg over the side of the bed, I’m abruptly pulled backward, a powerful arm wrapped around my ribs.

“Morning, my Gorgeous Wife.” He mumbles in his deep sleepy tone.

Laying me on my back, he pins my arms above my head and straddles his legs on each side of my body. He pushes himself backwards onto his heels and proceeds to place a flutter of kisses along my stomach.

“Morning, little one.”

I can’t help but smile, tears welling as I watch him kiss my belly.

The man who once killed for me, the professional hitman, the man who believed he was a monster, is smiling to my stomach, placing the most delicate kisses, whispering to his unborn child.

Everybody may have a darkness in them, but there is always light.

“Good morning husband”

He scoots his legs further down the bed, now trailing kisses down my thigh.

“I need my breakfast, wife. Open those damn sexy legs and let me feast.”

A sexy grin forming, his dark hungry eyes searching mine. The man is insatiable.

“Didn’t you get your fill last night, Champ?” I tease.

He forces my knees apart as he brings his body back up between us, his face now crowding mine.

“I will never, ever have my fill of you, Baby.”

Isn’t that the truth? I press my lips to his. He smiles against them.

There is nothing I want more than to be worshiped by my King for the rest of my life.

Everyone wears a mask. You can never truly love all of someone unless you see beneath it.

I see Keller.

Beneath the darkness, he is my light, as I am his.

I never believed in fairytales; that is, until him. Our tale might be dark and twisted, but it’s ours and it’s perfect.

THE END.
