End Game: 2ND PERIOD – Text Chat (4)

Mom: Gracie, are you done with that class of yours? Your father could use some help with the printing shops.

Gracie: No, Mom. The semester hasn’t finished yet. And, it isn’t a class. It’s a postgraduate degree.

Liam: Gracie got an A on her recent paper, though, Hanna. Isn’t that awesome? I’m sure she aced her mid-terms too.

Dad: Well done, girlie.

Mom: Dad’s barely home at all. It’s so busy right now with everyone wanting something printed for the holidays.

Kow: It’d be neat if you could help out, Gracie.

Dad: Leave girlie alone. I fine.

Mom: You’re not, Fryd. Working all these hours isn’t good for you. You should be retiring soon.

Dad: I retire when dead.

Mom: Don’t even joke about that!

Noah: Can’t you make it home early, Gracie? If Dad needs help then…

Gracie: If things are so busy, then Dad needs to expand his workforce. 🙂

Kow: Took that fancy business thing you’re studying to work that one out, did it?

Gracie: I’m surprised you can even spell business, Kow. Didn’t you go bankrupt last year?

Kow: ALMOST.

Gray: *snorts*

Cole: That you think that’s a defense is embarrassing.

Gracie: Apparently, there are positions in Dad’s shops if you need some extra cash…

Mom: Gracie, that was mean.

Gracie: The truth stings. Anyway, I have to go study for my business thing so I can give advice that no one listens to.

Kow: You telling me to save for my tax payment wasn’t advice.

Cole: Did you save for it?

Kow: No.

Matt: And isn’t that why you almost went bankrupt, lol? Sounds like advice to me.

Kow: ALMOST is the keyword.

Liam: I think I remember you hitting me up for a loan around April 30th last year…

Kow: Are you taking Gracie’s side?

Liam: Yeah, dumbass. You still owe me BTW.

Mom: Boys! Stop arguing. Look at what you’ve done now, Gracie.

Noah: I don’t see why she can’t help out. Winter break has to start soon, doesn’t it?

Liam: She’s working for me full-time on top of school. Her schedule is crazy.

Mom: I just don’t understand why she’s doing all this. The firm could be hers. It’s not good enough for her. That’s her problem. She always did have her head in the clouds.

Liam: Hanna, that’s not fair! Everyone should dream big. You taught us that we could aim for whatever we set our hearts on.

Dad: We did, Hanna. I told you you hard on Gracie girlie. Leave her be.

Dad: I no want retire.

Mom: Oh, Fryd. Hush.
