Hidden In Brutal Devotion: Chapter 28

Cole

Lucas has been anxious all day. I haven’t missed the tugging on his hair and the pacing whenever he’s not busying himself.

I sit, watching his leg bounce, trying to figure out why the hell he’s getting so worked up over Rage coming home.

When he texted earlier to say he was going straight to the club instead of the family meal Tia prepared for us all, I was pissed.

We haven’t seen him in weeks now, and I’m desperate for him to finally meet my girl‍—‍our girl‍—‍and for him to accept her.

Accept us.

Lucas must be agitated. Coming out as having a relationship for the first time in his life must be hard. Coupled with the fact he’s in a ménage of some sort, I can understand his anxieties. Rage sure as shit isn’t going to be supportive of us, and the thought angers me.

Since his girl did the dirty on him years ago, he refuses to acknowledge any woman worth bothering with beyond a release. I clench my fists in annoyance.

I push back from my chair and jump to my feet. “I’m going to the club to fetch him.”

Tia’s widened eyes dart to mine.

Lucas stands. “Me too.” His tongue darts out over his lips, his pale face making me glare at him in annoyance that he’s letting Rage get to him this way.

“Beauty, go take a bath. We’ll be back soon.” I bend and drop a kiss to her head.

Lucas follows suit, but he lingers with uncertainty. I take in his shaky hand and hate that he’s feeling this way.

My jaw locks as I stride toward the door. Time to sort this shit out with our brother.
