Hidden In Brutal Devotion: Tia

I drag my comb through my hair. After leaving the penthouse before Cole woke this morning to avoid any awkward silence, I came home, tidied round, and showered.

A knock at my apartment door causes me to sigh. Knowing it’s probably the old lady from down the hall again, I plaster on a smile and swing my door open. But it’s not her, nope, because standing in front of me with a huge cheeky smile is the guy that I kissed goodbye only a few hours ago. Cole.

My eyes must bug out because he chuckles, saying, “Beauty, if you don’t close your mouth, I’m going to have to stuff it full of cock. You’re already giving me a semi, standing there with your tits on display.”

I snap my mouth closed and trail my eyes down my body. I have a long rock band T-shirt on, sans bra because I just showered.

I stare back at Cole. He’s leaning against the doorframe, looking freshly showered. He wears a tight white T-shirt that showcases his huge chest and biceps, jeans that stretch over his thick muscular thighs, and chunky unlaced boots. He smells incredible‍—‍his cologne lingers in the air‍—‍so much so, I find myself wanting to lean in and smell his neck, trailing a long lick all the way down to . . .

Wow, his dick really is hard.

Cole clears his throat. “As much as I’d appreciate you eating me for breakfast, I actually brought it with me.” He holds two brown paper bags up in front of me and then proceeds to push past me, welcoming himself into my apartment.

A chuckle makes me turn toward the small living space to see Cole unpacking the contents of the brown bags onto the small kitchen countertop.

Realizing I’m still standing like an idiot in shock with the door wide open, I slam it shut and cross my arms over my chest and walk toward the kitchen.

“Cole, what are you doing here?”

Cole’s face drops, and he stops what he’s doing, making me feel guilty at the look of vulnerability in his eyes. They search mine, but I’m not sure what he’s looking for.

He clears his throat and continues unpacking the food. “I brought breakfast, beauty. With you running out on me so quick, I didn’t get the chance to feed you.” His eyes snap back up toward mine accusingly.

I shift from foot to foot uncomfortably, tugging on the hem of the T-shirt. His eyes follow my movement, causing heat to creep up my neck and into my cheeks.

“Gotta say, I’ve never had a woman run out on me in the morning,” he jokes to lighten the mood.

I straighten my back and walk over to the small two-seater table. Pulling out a chair, I take a seat. “There’s a first time for everything,” I snark back, trying to act unfazed by his presence.

Cole chuckles. “That there is.” He picks up the breakfast items and brings them over to the table. Bending down, he tucks a strand of my damp hair behind my ear. “And I told you last night, I had a first time with you.”

My gaze meets Cole’s when he pulls the chair out and takes a seat, dwarfing it in the process. He angles himself to face me. “I didn’t use protection, beauty. That’s not something I’ve done before.” I swallow at his words. “When I said you were special, I meant it. You’re not the type of girl I want leaving my bed in the morning.” Cole laughs to himself while brushing a hand over his buzz cut. Appearing slightly uncomfortable, he glances away and exhales before his eyes meet mine once again. “Pretty sure I’d never want you to leave my bed. You get me?”

I stare at him in disbelief. I’m pretty sure Cole just told me he wants me?

“I want you, beauty. In my bed, on my cock, and, more importantly”—he taps his hand over his heart—“in here.”

I suck in a sharp breath and a tremor works through my body at the sheer look of sincerity behind his words.

“I don’t even know you,” I say, my voice a delicate whisper.

Cole’s face breaks out into his wide signature grin. “Then, let’s get to know each other.”
