Once Upon A Dragon Wish: Chapter 29

BLAKE

Dimmi was in Helmut’s custody. They put him in the cells that blocked all magic. To make sure, Helmut slammed on a pair of magical shackles around his wrists. It bound every bit of magic that flew through his veins.

Samuel wasn’t with him and I flew fast with Emanual on my trail to his mansion.

The white walls on the hill with the spotlights roaming the sky appeared.

Music blared in my ears, and I tuned it out. They were having a party.

The earth shook as I landed and I slammed the gate opened with my tail.

Gun shots went off, and it rocketed off my scales, bounced back, and a few guards fell while others grunted. I unleashed my fire on them as Emanual landed.

I entered his property and bodies that enjoyed the pool darted in different directions. Their screams followed them.

“Ruby.” Samuel held up his hands and walked toward me, wearing his designer white pleaded pants and a mother fucking ugly shirt. His one hand was up in the air, begging me to calm down.

“I told you I was going to do that. No need to get your scales all shivered.”

He froze as Emanual walked into the property. “What is he doing here?”

A growl rumbled from deep within.

“Where is Dimitri?” he demanded.

“Blake, don’t play with him.” Emanual’s deep voice came from behind.

I wanted to drag it out.

“We have a blood contract. You can’t kill me because it will waver.”

“It isn’t your magic.” I growled and blew my fire on him.

He didn’t even scream. He just turned into ashes. It was way too fast.

Everything around us became silent as Emanual walked next to me and blew the ashes away.

“So glad we will not lose you.”

“He deserved a horrible death.”

“Blake, you turned him to ash.”

“He didn’t feel the pain.” I darted up into the sky and flew back to Tith.

I landed hard, and Jako waited on the steps with King Helmut. Elena’s lights were off and I transformed back into my human form.

“Is the threat sorted?” Helmut asked. I wanted to see Elena as I pulled the robe over my body.

“Thanks, and I’m sorry about—”

“They were idiots. You warned Brenna, and he didn’t listen. Go home, and rest. Let me know if another threat comes.”

I nodded. I would not see her tonight. The robe disappeared fast from my body and I morphed into my dragon again, climbing the air with speed.

Images of Lucian comforting her filled my mind, and I released another ball of pink fire.

Calm down, Blake. He wouldn’t do that to you. He wouldn’t.

I ate like a beast the next morning. All the news stations showcased the events that happened last night at the palace.

King Helmut held a press conference, but didn’t mention my name. He just said that there was a threat on the princesses life and that they illuminated it.

My dragon figure was on camera plenty of times, protecting Elena. They showed how I stopped Dimmi and illuminated the threat.

He would get a hearing and would probably lock him up in Beaufort prison with the rest of his dark buddies. It was the strongest prison in Paegeia, built just for dark Dragonians like him.

Tabitha plopped down in front of me. “Busy night, I see.”

“Don’t, please.” I sighed.

“Does this have anything to do with my brother, Blake?”

“Yes, but don’t worry, your brother is smart. He wasn’t anywhere near the mansion or at that palace. Tell him to keep it that way.”

“If I see him, I will.” Silence lingered. “You saw her?”

I shook my head.

“Are they ever going to let you see her?”

I shook my head again.

“You want something to unwind, take your mind off this.”

My gaze flickered to her.

“She doesn’t have to know. I swear, I won’t do that to you.”

“No.” I spoke through gritted teeth.

She nibbled on her lower lip. “When was the last time you had sex?”

I huffed. “Stay away from me, Tabitha. I’m not interested.”

I got up as I just lost my appetite. I hated to admit how amazing her invitation sounded, but I couldn’t do that to Elena. Shit like that had a funny way of biting you in the ass at a later stage.

I would help myself out if things got too much.

I slept until four and found Lucian’s bed still empty when I woke up. When was he going to come back?

I played a game and around six; the door opened and Lucian walked in with his black leather bag. He put it on the bed without saying a word. Not even a hello.

I didn’t want to speak to him, afraid of what might escaped those lips.

He packed away his clothes in silence as the swirl in my gut twirled, making me feel sick.

I dropped the console as I died in the game and rubbed my face hard.

“How did it feel?” Lucian asked, and my hands fell at my side. I picked up my beer and took a few gulps before putting it hard on the table.

“Blake?” Lucian asked.

“How did what feel?” I barked at him, and he squinted.

“What the fuck is it with you? I told you I won’t do that to you.”

“I’m not deaf, Lu. I heard every fucking thing that happened in her room this weekend. Do you do that often, walk in her room, have deep conversations? Tell me, how many times does my name pop up?”

“It’s not like that, asshole. Green is not your color.”

“What fucking ever.” I flopped onto my bed and could feel Lucian’s eyes on me as I lit up a cigarette.

Silence lingered, and Lucian sighed. “You want the truth.”

“Be careful what is going to leave your lips.”

He huffed with a smile. “I’m not afraid of you, Blake. It would be easy to sweep her off her feet, because whatever you did to this girl on the other side, did something to her and I don’t mean it positively. She deserves better.”

“You think I don’t know that. I’m fucking stuck here because of Declan’s fucking order. You want to sweep her off her feet, Lucian.”

“I told you I won’t do that. What don’t you understand? I’m not as selfish as you. You fucked up whatever was between me and Arianna, Blake. Believe me, I wish I can get out of that fucked up arrangement because now I am forced to marry someone I would never trust, never love. I hope you keep your dick in your pants, cause I swear to you, Blake, if you are going to hurt Elena like that, I will do what I have to do.”

My nostrils flared, and before I could stop myself, Lucian’s back slammed into the wall.

He didn’t flinch, but he stared at me.

“Don’t fuck with me. You might be my blood brother, but that is my rider. I won’t sit on the sidelines and watch her be happy with someone else. You get that.”

He shook his head. “Then keep your dick in your pants.”

I let go of him and walked into the bathroom.

I clutched the side of the basin. My knuckles were white and if this was the other side of the wall, the basin would’ve broken in two.

Calm down, Blake. I took a few deep breaths.

When I got out of the bathroom, I felt better. A good wanking hurt no one. I felt lighter.

Lucian wasn’t in his bed. He was probably whining to one of his buddies.

I flopped on my bed and lit up another cigarette. My Cammy was on my bedside table and I grabbed it, switching it on to listen to songs. I needed to change my thoughts, but I struggled at the moment.

It sucked that I couldn’t even speak to her this weekend, she was right there.

I searched for that song. The band’s name popped on the screen and my eyes scanned through the music they had written. I grazed through the titles and found Fix You. I pressed that button and it was the song that she was listening to.

It was a great song, and the thought that this guy being a Moon-Bolt jumped into my mind again.

If he was, he didn’t know it. He could’ve been a Dragonian too, and his ability to see the future was spot on. But seeing her life was disturbing. One of Paegeia’s laws was that we couldn’t find fame on the other side.

I doubted this guy knew what he was.

I listened to the song over and over and I wished there was a way that I could serenade this song to her.
