Take Me To The Cabin: Chapter 28

Phoenix

is probably the greatest moment in my life. Life with me won’t always be easy, and we’ve recently talked in depth about it.

Over the last few days, I’ve told her about how life was when I first moved out here and was learning to survive. Granted, it won’t be that hard for her because she has me, and we have the guys for anything we don’t know.

I introduced myself to her parents more as a “fuck you” than anything else. They thought I wasn’t good enough for her. Well, newsflash, I feel the same way about them. Anyone that treats this angel that way isn’t good enough to share the same air as her.

As we stand and watch them head down the driveway, a peace falls over me. ‘I’m putting a gate at the driveway with a security box. You good with that?’

‘Yep, just give the guys the code because they should have it.’

‘Agreed.’ And Jack, I think.

It’ll take some finagling to get a buzzer system to the cabin, but sometimes it’s nice to have money because I can make just about anything happen. There isn’t an amount of money I wouldn’t spend to make sure my girl is safe.

I decide to end my day a bit early because I want to soak in the bath with Jenna. It’s something I’ve been dreaming of since I first pictured her here in my cabin. So, after dinner, I lead her to the bathroom and get a hot bath going.

‘Relax with me?’ I ask.

‘Of course, though I thought this would be more of a daytime tub to view the mountains,’ she says, looking out the black window.

‘Just wait,’ I say as we start stripping out of our clothes. I get in the tub, and then help her in so she can sit with her back to my chest.

I use the remote to turn off the lights in the entire house. Once it’s dark, the stars come into view, and they’re as clear as day.

‘Wow, this is amazing.’ She gasps when she sees it.

I wrap my arms around her and hold her to me, letting the water soak our muscles. I’m sure she’s sore from moving the last few days and tense from dealing with her parents.

‘So, I’ve been thinking,’ Jenna says.

I tense because my mind goes to the worst-case scenario, but I take a breath and let her talk. ‘Oh, yeah?’ I run my hands over her, calming myself.

‘We should put the table in my cabin. It’s custom fit for it. Then maybe decorate the house and rent it out. There’s a place in town that will manage it, and we can put it up as a vacation rental. We won’t have to do anything because the company will take care of everything.’

‘You know we don’t need the money? Are you wanting to hold on to it just in case…?” I can’t bring myself to say, just in case this doesn’t work out with us.

‘No, it’s not that. It’s just the first thing I bought for myself, the first thing I did for myself, and I can’t stand the thought of selling it. Not yet, anyway.’

‘You want to do a vacation rental instead of yearly rentals?’

‘Yeah, mostly because the furniture will stay there and it’s a great way to advertise your stuff.’

Any remaining tension I had is gone. ‘It’s perfect, baby.’

We both relax in the bath as our plans fall into place. Everything feels right like this is where we were both meant to end up.
