Tempt Our Fate: Chapter 42

PIPPA

“Funny. She never really mentioned her exes. Except for the fact they couldn’t make her c—”

“Alright, well, I’m going to order a beer,” I interrupt Camden, not wanting to hurt Chase’s feelings. He’s sweet; he just wasn’t for me. Not that I’d ever consider him an ex. No matter what, I don’t want him to be bullied by Camden because he’s jealous.

He’s really freaking hot when he’s jealous. A vein has popped up on the middle of his forehead. He’s tense all over, his jaw muscles showing off with ripples every time he clenches his jaw.

“A Miller?” Chase asks, trying to get the attention of the bartender.

I feel Camden’s deep growl against my back. I try to hide the shiver that runs down my body with excitement.

Damn. Why do I love jealous Camden so much?

Before I can answer, Camden has already gotten the attention of another bartender and is ordering. “Two Stellas,” he clips, handing over a hundred-dollar bill.

“I’ll get you your change,” Linna responds. She was two grades older than me in high school and one of my favorite bartenders here at Slopes. She knows how to make a mean limoncello shot. Good enough to make me hungover for days after a few.

“Don’t worry about it. Keep it.”

She looks at him wide-eyed. That’s a hefty tip, but I keep my mouth shut. Even when Chase lets out an annoyed sigh from my other side.

“You don’t even like Stella,” he mutters under his breath.

I actually love Stella. I just always order the cheap shit because I could have two beers for the price of one. I’m all about saving money. Beer is beer. But I’ll never turn down a more flavorful, expensive beverage.

“You can go now,” Camden drawls, his hand tightening around my waist again. “She’s not interested.”

His hand around my waist is possessive. I feel bad because I’ve lied to Chase and made it out like Camden and I are strangers when we’re anything but. I don’t change my story because I want to pretend that Camden and I don’t know each other so we can get that redo. Chase is just a casualty of it.

Chase stares at me, probably waiting for me to tell Camden off. I don’t. Instead, I give him a friendly smile. “I’ll call you later?” I offer politely.

“She won’t,” Camden counters from behind me. I give him a dirty look. Jealous Camden is something else.

Chase holds eye contact for a few moments longer before he backs away with his arms in the air. I groan, knowing he’s probably already texting my brother and telling him about this encounter. I don’t think Cade will say anything, however. He’s too busy killing himself getting things ready for the winter and pining over Mare. But it might be an interesting conversation if somehow he does pay attention and asks me what’s happening between me and the guy I brought to the ranch.

As soon as Chase disappears, Camden is pulling on my hip and facing me toward him. Jealousy is written all over his face. The clench of his jaw, his straight lips, and narrowed eyes.

“Did you have your fun?” he clips, nodding to Linna when she hands over our beers.

I avoid his question for a moment, taking a long pull of the beer. It’s delicious. No wonder it’s more expensive. It tastes so much better.

“This is amazing,” I mumble, my lips moving against the top of the bottle.

“Answer my question.”

“Thanks for the beer,” I say, knocking it against the one he hasn’t touched in his hand. “Since you’ve bought me a beer, I think I should at least know your name.”

He stares me down, no hint of amusement on his face. This is kind of fun.

“Are you jealous?” I tease.

He holds out his free hand between us. “Camden,” he gets out, moving his fingers, gesturing for me to shake his.

I place my hand in his, squeaking when he pulls me against his body. He lines his mouth up next to my ear. I get shivers down my body when his breath hits the spot behind my ear that drives me wild.

“Yours. That’s what I am,” he whispers. “And you don’t have to tell me your name. It’s mine.”

I moan when he kisses the spot under my ear. My skin breaks out in goose bumps. His lips are tender yet possessive. “Oh, am I now?”

He nods. “Yes. And I hated every fucking second of him looking at you.”

“He doesn’t matter,” I admit, my back arching as his lips move down my neck.

“Damn right he doesn’t.”

“Hey, Camden?”

“Yes, baby?”

“Can we forget all about that dance? I want you to take me to bed. I’m really freaking turned on after watching you go all caveman.” He rips his lips from my neck, staring me down as if he’s trying to figure out if I’m serious or not. “We can always come back here, right? I’ll do it properly and force you to wear a cowboy hat and boots and everything.”

“Not happening.”

I smile, taking a long drink of my beer. I’m not wasting the good beer. “It’s absolutely happening. But I’m really wet right now, and I need you to take care of it.”

He gives me a wolfish grin. Reaching out, he knocks his full beer against mine, a loud clinking sound filling the space between us. “Chug your beer, shortcake. We’re leaving.”

I do as I’m told, drinking every last drop as quickly as I can before letting him pull me from the bar. My heart races in anticipation as he leads me out the door. People try to stop and talk to me, but I don’t pay attention to any of them. Between my thighs is getting more and more wet as I dream of all the ways he’ll punish me for that little thing with Chase.

Maybe that’s why I let it happen. Maybe I wanted to make him jealous so I could see how he acted. I won’t admit that to him, but as my feet hurry to try and keep up with him, I know all of that was done on purpose.

He doesn’t say a word as he pulls me down the sidewalk. I must not be quick enough for him because eventually, he stops in his tracks. I’m opening my mouth to ask him why he’s stopping when I’m soaking wet and need him immediately when he sweeps me off my feet and clutches my body to his chest.

“Whoa!” I yell, wrapping my arms around his neck. “What are you doing?”

“You’re too slow, and since I don’t think you’ll let me eat your pussy on one of these side streets where anyone in your precious town can find you, I’m carrying you to your house.”

“Oh,” I whisper, clutching my thighs together because damn, that’s hot.

We had sex only hours ago, and I’m already ready for it to happen again. I’m eager to see what he has in store for me. Will he still be angry when we get to my house, which is a few blocks away? Will he take it out on me? Punish me a little before finally letting me come? Or will I see the soft side of Camden again? One where he slowly pushes in and out of me with his eyes locked on mine.

“Quit squirming,” he says through clenched teeth.

“Sorry,” I mumble.

“No you aren’t. You love knowing that I’m hard as a goddamn rock, imagining how soaked your panties must be right now.”

I groan. Why do I have to have morals? Surely no one would see us if we just slipped in between two buildings…

“Fuck it,” Camden comments, veering a hard right and taking us between a tourist shop full of T-shirts and trinkets and the local deli.

He leads us deep into the alley, roughly pushing me against the brick wall when he places me on my feet.

“What are you doing?” I ask, already knowing exactly what he’s got planned by the way he shoves the fabric of the dress I’d changed into up my thighs.

“Eating your pussy,” he states casually, as if the words aren’t naughty and dirty and anybody could be walking along the sidewalk a few feet away from us.

“My house isn’t too far from here.” I anxiously look toward the street. It’s illuminated by the streetlights, the occasional car passing by. So far, no one walks along it, but that doesn’t mean someone won’t.

“It’s too far. The cafe is too far. Everything is too far. I need you right now.”

I’m getting far too used to seeing this man drop to his knees for me. The gravel underneath him can’t be comfortable, but he doesn’t act like it’s uncomfortable. He’s too busy pulling my panties down, hungrily looking between my legs.

“What if someone catches us?”

“Then they catch us,” he answers, placing his palms inside my thighs to spread my legs.

I shouldn’t be doing this. I’d be horrified if someone were to see. But I need him more than anything. That fit of jealousy has me desperate for him. And I can’t lie that the thrill of him eating me out right here, where anyone could find us, turns me on even more.

“I’ll make it quick but fucking phenomenal, baby. Just please, let me taste you.”

My head falls against the brick after hearing the desperation in his voice. “Did you just beg to eat me out?” I tease, gripping the skirt of my dress so it doesn’t cover me for him.

“I did.” He doesn’t look at me, his focus staying between my thighs. Before him, I hated being eaten out—not that it happened often. Now I think I could get used to feeling his mouth against my clit and having him tease me with his tongue while his fingers push in and out of me. “Now can I make you come? Please?”

“Yes,” I pant because holy shit, that please might’ve been the sexiest word that’s ever come from his mouth.

He doesn’t warm me up or tease me. He seals his mouth to my tender flesh, his tongue flicking against my clit immediately. He must not be satisfied with my position because he hooks one of my legs over his shoulder, allowing him to bury his face deeper between my thighs.

One of my hands finds his defined shoulder, feeling his sculpted muscles even below his fancy jacket and shirt. The other tangles through his hair, gripping it so tight, making sure he doesn’t come up for air until I’ve come against his tongue.

He moans as I pin him to me, which in return has me moaning along with him. It’s how much he gets off on getting me off. It doesn’t take long at all for him to make good on his word. I don’t know if he ever comes up for a breath before I’m moaning his name up to the night sky, my fingers fisting his hair as I grind against his mouth.

My moans are amplified by the two brick buildings on either side of us. They echo off them, making my moans of pleasure seem way louder than they are.

Camden doesn’t move his mouth until he’s made sure I’ve gotten everything possible out of the orgasm. He pulls away, his mouth wet with me. It’s even hotter when his lips, coated in my arousal, spread into a grin.

“You’re so fucking sexy, shortcake,” he muses, picking up my panties and tucking them into his pocket. He’d tossed them onto the ground—there was no way I was going to put them back on. I make a mental note to make sure I get them back from him. They’re one of my nicest pairs.

I brace myself on his shoulders as he fixes my dress before he stands to his full height. I just came, but I want more of him. More of that, but not with the adrenaline of getting caught.

“Take me home,” I whisper, biting my lip playfully. He tugs my lips from between my teeth, replacing them with his lips.

“Gladly.” He kisses me, slowly and deliberately. His hands find my hips. I’m about to remind him we need to hurry when a bright light illuminates both of us.

“Kids!” someone barks. “This is not the place to fool around. Get on with it.”

I squint, holding my hand up to try and see past the light shining in my face. The figure comes into view right as I step away from Camden.

“Pippa?” a voice asks in shock. “Is that you?”

I groan, plastering a fake smile on my face. “Hi, Sheriff Phillips.”

He frowns underneath his handlebar mustache. “What are you doing?” His words are careful but accusing as he looks between Camden and me.

Shit. Between Rosemary, the little show at Pop’s, Chase, and being caught by Sheriff Phillips, I’m bound to be the talk of the town tomorrow.

Great.

“I had, uh—” I look around to try and think of a good enough excuse to give the man whose wife used to teach my bible school. “A splinter,” I rush out to say, closing my eyes the moment the words leave my mouth because they’re not believable in the slightest.

“A splinter?” He narrows his already small eyes on me.

I risk an anxious glance in Camden’s direction, finding an eyebrow raised as he looks at me.

“Yep,” I say, committing to this story because I don’t have any other choice.

“In your mouth?”

“A terrible accident,” Camden offers before trying to hide a laugh with a cough.

Sheriff Phillips doesn’t seem to believe me. I try to give him an innocent smile as he looks between the two of us.

“I heard moans. I thought someone was injured.”

I close my eyes, trying to fight the smile wanting to bloom on my face. This shouldn’t be funny at all, but I’ve always laughed in uncomfortable situations—something I got from my mom—and right now, I can’t help myself.

“All good. Just a deep splinter,” I answer, my voice tight because I’m trying so damn hard not to laugh. There’s no way I can tell this man that instead of Camden helping me with a splinter, he was eating me out and no one was injured. The orgasm was just that good.

Sheriff Phillips doesn’t seem to believe me, but he doesn’t say anything. He just holds his flashlight between Camden and me and takes a step back.

“Well, fix your splinter in the privacy of your own home,” he scolds.

“Yes, sir,” I answer, my cheeks hurting from trying to fight the smile.

He turns around and walks away. I’m able to hold the laugh in for two more seconds before it bubbles from deep inside my chest.

I double over, laughing so hard because I was just moments away from the sheriff catching me with Camden between my thighs.

“Glad you find this hilarious. I just had to talk to that man with a goddamn boner,” Camden gripes.
