The Alpha King’s Heart: His Rejected Mate: Chapter 26

The Blue Moon

‘Why were you too quick to accept?’ Azriel asked as he showed me the gym.

‘Money is good,’ I shrugged ‘ By the way, you have to tell me what to do, like I said, I haven’t done this before,’

‘You’re his mate. You shouldn’t be some trainer,’ he said.

‘As I said, I have no wolf and-‘ He stopped walking

‘What is your name?’

I didn’t know whether to feel offended that he didn’t know my name. We spent yesterday and today together!

‘Adira Wade,’ I mumbled.

‘Are you hurt that I don’t know your name, Adira?’

Adira, I repeated, it sounded good from his tongue too. Damn these brothers.

‘No, I’m not mad,’

My voice sounded hostile and he smirked. Azriel showed me around and what he expected of me.

‘There is a guidebook you’ll follow, it contains everything the girls need to learn,’ he said.

‘Is it not the same with the boys?’

‘No,’

‘But why? Isn’t important they acquire the same skills too?’

‘For what? Girls don’t even go to war,’ he said and I stopped walking.

‘That’s unfair, what about the girls who aspire to serve the pack in the army?’ I asked seriously. This is the largest and strongest pack in the realm, they had the best and largest militia yet they were all men. How unfair.

‘Oh, I know. They send our brave soldiers gifts, cook them hot meals, and shop for them. Other ladies prefer to be on their knees or back, pleasing them,’ he winked and I pulled a face in disgust.

‘What I’m trying to say is; our females use their talents elsewhere but the fighting ground,’

‘But what if there is an attack?’

‘An attack has never made it close to the pack because they are many men on the front lines ready to die to protect them and besides, they receive basic training,’ I grumbled.

‘How disappointing,’ I grumbled as we continued the tour.

‘I need to buy more gym clothes now since I’ll be spending more time here, and also, I’ll need a timetable,’ I sighed and he nodded. We went into the restaurant to have lunch. The restaurant wasn’t like any other, they had nice round chairs of four, and it was grande.

‘So, why are you not at the palace,’ I asked him.

‘I can ask the same question,’

‘You know why,’ I was quick to respond.

‘Well, you may not have a wolf yet but you could live in the palace, to be acquainted with the people there,’

‘We think it best to do that when I have a wolf,’

‘Yeah, people there can be malicious,’ he murmured more to himself.

‘What do you mean?’

‘Have you been introduced to the pack members? The parliament?’ he asked again, eating his mashed potatoes. This man was asking way too many questions.

‘No, I told you why,’ I glowered at him. He was amused.

‘Well, my little brother has done it this time, this will be fun,’ part of his lips curled into a smile, and his eyes made me feel uneasy.

‘What do you mean?’

‘Nothing to worry about for now, Adira,’ his smile said otherwise though. ‘ Eat, we have to train the students in ten minutes, and remember, we lead by example, if they jump, run, etc you do too,’

‘I don’t have proper clothing,’

‘I’ll find you something,’ I nodded, thinking it was going to be good practice for me as well.

Wyatt’s POV

Rachel was smiling at me, happy that we got to spend some time together.

‘Thank you for eating with me today,’ she said, holding my hand.

‘I found my mate,’ I told her straight up. She raised her eyebrows.

‘Oh,’

‘Is that all you have to say?’

‘I don’t care if she’s there Wyatt, I knew you wouldn’t be loyal anyway so let’s just leave things as they are,’

Her heart was pounding but tried hard to seem calm.

‘You can keep her at the Estate because that is where she is, right? I’ll be here at the palace by your side to continue with my duties,’ she explained.

‘No, Rachel, no. Adira is my mate, my queen and I refuse for someone to take her place here,’ I was solemn, and her eyes flashed with many emotions.

‘What about the promise you made me, my father, and brother when we aided you in the war against the dark wolf king? You’re mine by oath, Wyatt,’ I groaned.

‘That’s why I’m telling you this, we need to dissolve the oath … Peacefully,’

Rachel shook her head, and tears finally escaped her eyes.

‘No, your rule is not a dictatorship, we are democratic and you can’t go around doing as you please even if you are the strongest wolf, Wyatt. The parliament approved me as your consort and it’s me you’ll announce to all the packs, not some woman who just came into the picture!’ She shouted. I was being nice to her because of my oath to her family and because I felt bad for her, she has been by my side for a while.

‘And she benefitted greatly from being by your side,’ Rolf said. He wanted Rachael to leave and for me to tell Adira the truth, this would hurt her more if she found out from someone who isn’t me.

‘King Wyatt, please, I love you and we were doing so well together, why did you bring her into our lives?’ She cried.

‘You did the one thing I asked you not to, Rachel,’ I warned her not to fall in love with me and that I will never choose her as my mate. So all this was on her.

‘But I did,’ she whimpered. Her hair is no longer as neat and all the makeup from her face is smudged.

‘My decision is final, and as for your pack, allying with me that time was the best thing they did. Their companies are thriving, your father is a member of the parliament like he wanted and the pack has more weapons and better security, the army has doubled because of me. I did that!’ I shouted, losing my patience. The Silver Dawn had profited more from this alliance than any other pack that helped during the war of the dark wolves so they needed to stop feeling so entitled. I was a king not because of my bloodline, or because I defeated the evil king but because I was the right man for it. I fought for all of them and they selected me to lead our race.

‘Rethink this, please. This woman is not educated enough to be your queen, she needs to learn the roles she plays,’ Adira will learn, she’s a smart girl, and being Queen is not hard. I saw what my mother used to do; organize events, and visit packs to check on the welfare.

‘I’ll introduce Adira to my pack as Luna and Queen after the blue moon, don’t fight this,’ I said softly.

‘Well, then, looks like you’ve made up your mind. I’ll stay here in the palace to continue my work as my pack ambassador in the palace,’ She smiled gently. I frowned at her. Knowing it was useless to kick her out.

‘My mark, I’m scared that my wolf will go wild if you mark your mate so soon,’ she sniffled. I glanced at the small mark on her neck. This would be easy if her wolf didn’t choose me as her mate.

‘I’m sure it will fade in time, for now, I’ll wait to mark Adira until your wolf comes to terms with this,’ I said.

‘Thank you, Wyatt and I’m sorry my wolf tricked you into marking us,’

I stood up to leave the breakfast table, determined to go home now, but the door abruptly opened.

‘My king! We have a problem. The Desert Rose was attacked,’ I immediately took off there. Aspen and Jett joined me.
