The Game: Chapter 25

MILA

I get into New York just after ten in the evening. Malcom’s there to pick me up. But he says nothing to me. Not really. He tells me I have to wait until we are all together. Then he will talk to me.

I don’t give a shit about this talk. I have a headache from crying the whole way here. Can’t he see my splotchy red face? And my red-rimmed eyes. Dad had been so disappointed in me as he drove me to the airport. He didn’t even speak to me once. It made me feel like I let him down.

Every time he gives me trust, I break it. This time he caught me with Asher’s cock in my mouth. It doesn’t get any worse than a father seeing his daughter doing that to her future stepbrother.

When I get to the apartment my mom wraps me in her arms.

“Darling, I’ve missed you.” She coos like someone who doesn’t miss me at all. God, she’s so fake. Her belly isn’t though. She really is having a baby.

“I have a headache, I need a Advil.”

Mom waddles off into her room, and I see Junior siting on the leather couch. The one I last saw him fucking a girl over.

“Hey,” he nods at me and now I’m even more curious why he’s here. Wouldn’t he be at his mother house?

“Once you take your Advil, we will sit down and talk. Its important we do this sooner rather than later for your mothers health.”

I put my hand up and shake my head.

“Please, I have just had the worst day. I need to sleep. Can we do this in the morning?” my head pounds again and mom returns with a glass of water and two white pills. Their different to the usual Advil I take. I look up at her. “I didn’t have Advil, I only had a different brand.

“I have a headache too, trust me. This will be quick.”

“I’ll grab you something for that.” Mom disappeared to get Malcolm something for his headache, and I can see he is frustrated. She must be stalling.

I take the pills and sit down beside Junior. He doesn’t look at me and I guess this is bad. Are they getting a divorce?

Mom returns and gives Malcolm the pills and water and we all sit down. I close my eyes for a moment. God, these pills are strong. My headache is almost gone. And I feel really good.

“Mila?” Malcolm calls to me. I open my eyes and try sit up but I feel so exhausted.

“Hands where we can see them. Drop the knife.” I groan. I roll my head and my hair is pasted to my face. I’m hot and sweaty and it sticks to my lips. I let out a puff of air to get the strands form my lips.

“Hands where I can see them. Now.” Who’s watching a cop show so loudly? It feels like it’s in the same room as me.

“Don’t shoot her, it was self defense.” I crack open an eye and see my mom standing there. Three uniformed police officers standing in the room I’m in.

“Drop the knife.” One yells at me and I start to panic. Who has a knife behind me? Is someone trying to kill me… Damon?

I look at my arm and chest, I’m covered in blood. I shuffle backwards in a panic whose blood is this?

I bump into something large. I turn and see the lifeless eyes of Malcolm staring up at me.

I scream.

Looking down in my hand, and a bloody knife drops free.

I killed Malcolm.
