True Luna: The Darkness Within: Chapter 34

Her Last Words

Alexander’s POV

We will be there in an hour. My dad mind-linked me. Most of our pack members left already. How is she?

I looked at the demon behind the glass.

The same. I mumbled angrily. Still trying to provoke us.

Just a little while longer. My dad sighed. Just one more hour and we will get our princess back.

I gulped and clenched my fists.

I heard Hunter approaching the cabin. He was rushing and I knew that he would be in here in just a few short seconds. I glanced to my right and saw him enter. He had a worried look on his face.

“My dad told me everything,” I said, making him nod.

He approached the glass and took a deep breath. The demon looked at him.

“Oh, hello, Hunter,” it said. “I missed you.”

I could hear his teeth clank together.

“I can’t say the same,” Hunter said, his voice trembling.

The demon laughed, throwing its head back.

“Oh, let’s not lie to each other,” it said. “That’s not the way to start our relationship.”

Hunter clenched his fists. Mason growled. I kept my eyes firmly on the demon. I hated it and I couldn’t wait for it to be gone.

“I am not yours,” Hunter said, trying to remain calm. “I am Sophia’s.”

The demon chuckled. “It’s a good thing that Sophia and I are the same person.”

I growled loudly, making the demon look at me. It smiled and took a step closer to the glass. It eyed me up and down and sighed.

“Do you want to know what I was screaming before the darkness finally took over me?” it asked. “Do you want to know my last words before I stopped being that weak little girl?”

My heart clenched painfully. Did I want to know her last words?

The demon smirked, keeping its eyes on me.

“I begged them not to do it,” it said. “I pleaded with them and fought as hard as I could. I kept screaming your name, hoping that you would somehow hear me and come rescue me.”

Pain washed over me and I almost crumpled to the floor. My Fia was screaming for me. She was screaming my name, trying to get me to come and help her, and I didn’t do shit.

“I was in so much pain,” the thing continued. “All I could think about was my family and how badly I wanted to be home.”

The thing looked at Hunter.

“I thought about you too,” it continued. “I thought about your arms around me. I thought about your hugs and kisses. I wanted it all so much.”

I glanced at Hunter and saw his hands shaking a little.

The thing looked back at me.

“But the one person I wanted the most was you,” the thing said. “You were the only one who knew how to chase the darkness and the pain away and all I wanted in that moment was you.”

I felt like the pain would kill me.

Hearing how much my Fia needed me was ripping me to pieces. Axel was howling and whining. I was on the verge of breaking. I couldn’t feel my body.

Hunter grabbed my hand and squeezed it.

Breathe, Alex. Mason mind-linked me. It is manipulating you. We don’t even know if what it is saying is true. Don’t let it break you.

What I hated the most was the way it was talking about all of that like it happened to it as well. It didn’t. It happened to my Fia. My Fia was the one screaming for help, not that thing in front of me.

“I feel silly talking about it now,” the thing continued, shaking its head and chuckling. “If I knew how good the darkness felt, I would have stopped you from chasing it away years ago.”

I growled loudly. The thing laughed.

“Oh, get used to it Alex,” it said. “This is who I am now. I am still your twin, aren’t I?”

I clenched my jaw and narrowed my eyes.

“You are not my twin,” I said through my teeth. “You are using my twin’s body, but you are not her. My twin is still somewhere inside and I will get her out.”

The thing laughed loudly and shook its head.

“Oh, I can’t wait to see the look on your face when you realize that there is no one inside me to save,” it said. “Everything but the darkness is dead. That naive Sophia you keep mentioning is dead.”

Hunter flinched. Mason growled loudly. I managed to keep my composure.

I forced a smirk on my face. I had to get inside its head, just like it tried to get inside mine.

“Oh, there is so much more going on inside you than you realize,” I said, making its eyes narrow a little.

“Are you talking about Stella?” it asked, rolling its eyes. “I don’t believe you. I killed that wolf.”

I forced myself to laugh even though I didn’t want to. I wanted to scream.

“You are clueless,” I said, shaking my head. “You are also pretty weak for someone claiming to be powerful.”

The thing narrowed its eyes at me.

“Our Sophia is so much stronger than you,” Mason said, making the thing glare at him. “Even trapped inside her own body she managed to fight against you and help us defeat you.”

The thing gulped nervously. It chuckled, looking back at me.

“I know what you are trying to do,” it said. “It won’t work, though. I don’t believe a word that you are saying.”

I smirked. “Don’t you? I saw you flinch a couple of times. We are convincing, aren’t we?”

The thing flinched slightly. It glanced at Hunter.

“They are right,” Hunter said firmly. “My mate is stronger than you will ever be.”

The thing clenched its fists.

“Any last words from you?” I asked, making it look back at me. “We will never repeat them again, though.”

The thing’s eyes widened.

I laughed, enjoying the confused and scared look on its face.

We would bring my Fia back and bury this thing in the deepest pits of hell.
