What Happens in Vegas: Chapter 24

Trent

Gia’s red hair cascaded over the white sheets. I pushed her limits last night and she’d risen to the occasion spectacularly. It was everything I imagined it would be and more. Flashes of the night raced through my mind. Her plump lips wrapped around my cock. Her tits bouncing as she rode me. Her hips moving in tandem with mine.

I was getting hard just thinking about it, but as spectacular as it was, the most amazing part was waking up next to her. I couldn’t remember the last time I spent the entire night with a woman.

My muscles ached as I rolled out of bed and pulled on my boxers. I needed coffee. And food. The ice cream we ate in the middle of the night wasn’t cutting it. I stumbled to the kitchen and put a pod into the tiny hotel coffee maker. As it brewed, I opened her fridge in search of food. Besides what I brought last night, there was a take-out container with half a burger in it and a bottle of ketchup, on to plan B. My stomach grumbled as I ordered us room service, requesting all her favorites from yesterday.

It was hard to believe twenty-four hours ago I begged her to give me another chance and today I woke up in her bed. The woman had me vexed. I was starting to seriously question my own sanity because I’d never put this much effort into getting a woman to spend time with me, yet I was fully invested and would do whatever it took.

The coffee maker sputtered to an end, and I added two sugar packets from the caddy using a plastic stirrer to mix it.

“Did you make that for me?” Gia shuffled in with squinty eyes, trying to tame her hair that stuck out in odd directions. She was fucking cute first thing in the morning, wrapped in a silky black robe that hit her midthigh.

“Good morning, sunshine.” I handed her the mug and put another pod in the maker for myself.

She took a sip and scrunched up her face before adding a travel-sized creamer to her mug. “I can’t believe you’re still here,” she said, leaning against the counter.

I lifted a brow. “Would you rather I left in the middle of the night?”

She shook her head. “Absolutely not. Last night was incredible, however I thought maybe I was your forbidden fruit and now that you’ve had me, you’d disappear.”

“There are two things wrong with that statement.” Frowning, I held up a fist and lifted a finger. “First, it wasn’t the first time I’ve had you.” Another finger. “Second, how in the hell could I ghost you? We work in the same office.”

Her lips quirked up on one side. “True. So we’re doing this?”

“We are. I can’t stop thinking about you.” I wrapped my arms around her waist and pulled her in for a kiss.

Gia giggled, placing her mug on the counter. “Careful, Mr. Dorsey, you’re starting to sound like a stage-five clinger.”

I rolled my eyes at her throwing my own words back at me.

She leaned away from my embrace. “But in all seriousness, I can’t be careless. There’s too much on the line. Whatever happens between us can’t affect my job.”

“It won’t. If you’ve ever trusted anyone, trust me.” The words spewed from my lips without any thought or care. I spoke from the heart, knowing we both had everything to lose.

“I might be crazy, but I believe you.”

Her words were a balm to my soul. There wasn’t a single thing she could ask that I wouldn’t do for her. Because what I felt wasn’t lust… it was more.

More, as in I had an instinctive need to protect her.

More, as in I wanted her beyond today or tomorrow.

More, as in I could finally see my future.

It was a need so bone deep I’d fall to my knees if necessary. No questions asked. I’d cocoon her in my arms and never let go.

Bewitched.

She put a spell on me and there wasn’t a damn thing I could do about it.

“I…” Love? It was way too soon to go down that road. “I care about you.” They weren’t the right words, but they were the best I could do. Veering away from the topic, I looked in her empty fridge. “You have nothing to eat so I ordered room service. You need to go grocery shopping.”

“Well, my boss is a tyrant, and I haven’t had time to scout out the local grocery stores, nor do I have a car here.”

I scowled. “Your boss isn’t that bad.”

“Yeah, he’s beginning to grow on me. Kinda cute too.”

A knock on the door signaled the arrival of our breakfast. “Stay put.” No way did I want anyone seeing her in that silky robe besides me. I quickly retrieved my jeans and tugged them on before opening the door and giving the nameless service host a generous tip. Just because I didn’t know him, didn’t mean he didn’t recognize me. Discretion was of utmost importance at Mystique and staff were paid well to keep it that way no matter what they saw, however a little more incentive couldn’t hurt.

I wheeled the cart inside and unloaded it on the table. “Your breakfast, madam.”

Gia took a seat and scooped scrambled eggs onto her plate. “You’re spoiling me. I feel like all we’ve done since Friday is eat.”

“We can work it off later.” I waggled my brows and sat across from her. “Now, about your car. I assume you had one if you were driving from Waukegan to Chicago every day.”

She swallowed. “I did, but I wasn’t sure what the situation would be here, so I sold it to my sister. I shipped my stuff to the hotel and hopped on a plane with my suitcases. I figured I could use Lyft or Uber or even a taxi until I got my bearings.”

The thought of her in a car with some stranger didn’t sit well with me. “Those are options, but I can take you somewhere if needed. We’re going to be spending a lot of time together anyway.”

“Is that so? You’ll be my own personal chauffeur?”

“I will. After breakfast, I’ll take you grocery shopping and we can stop anywhere else you need.” Domesticity had never been my thing, but suddenly buying eggs and orange juice with her appealed to me.

Definitely bewitched.
